Getting to Know Tiara and her Family

Tiara and her family

Tiara is a delightful, 18 month old little girl who lives with her young parents, Carla and Chris, and her older brother, C.C. When she was just a few months old, she experienced an episode of extended apnea (suspended breathing). She was diagnosed with encephalopathy and seizure disorder. Tiara recently has begun to sit independently for brief periods and to crawl short distances. Sitting allows her to play more games with C.C, and crawling gives her the opportunity to explore the family's new home. Tiara spends her days at home with her dad, while mom works and C.C. attends a local pre-school program. Tiara has many opportunities to interact with grandparents, neighbors, cousins, friends, or home visitors who visit on a daily basis.
